SAFINA Foundation | Clean Water. Dignified Lives

SAFINA Foundation is a Tanzanian registered non-governmental organization dedicated to delivering sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) solutions to the most vulnerable—women, children, and their families.

Foundation aims to improve public health in Tanzania communities by ensuring access to safe water, proper sanitation, and hygiene education. These initiatives will reduce diseases like cholera and diarrhea, often targeting schools, healthcare facilities, and communities. SAFINA also aims to promote sustainable, healthy, and dignified living conditions.

Our Services

Rooted in the heart of Tanzania’s rural and peri-urban communities, we blend local knowledge with global best practices to ensure that every hand that lifts a water container does so with safety, dignity, and hope.

Our Programs & Services:

Safe Water Access - Functional water points serving people in local communities & Rainwater Harvesting: Seasonal capture systems in schools, reducing reliance on unsafe sources.

Sanitation for Dignity -  Eco Latrine Construction: household latrines built using locally sourced materials and low-cost technology. School Sanitation Upgrade: primary schools equipped with gender sensitive latrine blocks and menstrual hygiene facilities.

Hygiene Promotion -  Community Health Clubs: clubs conducting peer to peer hygiene education, hand washing demonstrations, and disease surveillance. & Mother Child Hygiene Kits: Distributed kits containing soap, water containers, and educational leaflets.

Advocacy & Policy -  Partnering with the Ministry of Health and the Tanzania Water Association to influence national WASH policy, particularly around gender responsive water governance.
